"Teach the child not the subject."

Education is not learning about Julius Caesar or remembering the laws of motion or knowing about Mahatma Gandhi; it is applying the knowledge gained from the information of the above topics. It is to learn to be persuasive from the plays of Shakespeare or to use the knowledge of the laws of motion in your creations or to learn from the life of Gandhi to lead a better life.  

The whole purpose of education is to prepare for an unknown future- a future which is volatile, uncertain, chaotic and ambiguous. It is to train the students to think on their feet and take decisions at the moment. It is to train them to analyse the situation at hand and act accordingly. It is to train them to face the difficulties of life. It is to train them to achieve a balance in an imbalanced world. It is to make them feel comfortable with the discomforts of the world.

Therefore, education is teaching the skills to the child not the subject.
