"Education is not learning of the facts, but training the mind to think."
-Albert Einstein
Critical thinking is an integral skill required in todays time. To develop this skills in the students, the students were given different extracts from some well known poems and were asked to analyse them.
Analysis being one of the best ways to develop the critical thinking skills in the students helped them to question everything. I instructed my students to focus on each word written by the poet, especially the adjectives and ask the question, why? Why the poet has used that particular adjective? What does that word infer? Why the synonym of the particular word is not used? What are the connotative meanings of the word?
The students enjoyed the activity and ameliorated their thinking skills.
